Dudjom Tersar Lineage
Dudjom Tersar, meaning “New Treasure of Dudjom,” is a recently revealed tantric lineage within the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. Foretold by Guru Padmasambhava, it is considered an appropriate and effective path for modern times.
What sets Dudjom Tersar apart is its completeness and accessibility—offering a full tantric path to enlightenment for householder practitioners as well as monastics. “Dudjom” means demon defeater, symbolizing the conquest of inner obstacles such as ignorance and mistaken views.
At the core of the lineage is the Dzogchen (Great Perfection) practice, through which many practitioners have attained rainbow body and full realization. Central pith instructions include:
● Sangtri Kagyama
● Neluk Rangjung
● Magom Sangye
● Nang Jang
● Sherik Dorje Ngönpo Gyud
These are Dzogchen treasure texts revealed by Dudjom Lingpa, received during his direct visions of Kuntuzangpo. Masters from various Vajrayana schools—most notably Jamgon Mipham Rinpoche—have validated and revered these texts.
Key figures of the dudjom tersar lineage
Dudjom Lingpa (1835–1903)
The founder of the Dudjom Tersar, Dudjom Lingpa, was an accomplished tertön (treasure revealer). Uniquely, he had no formal monastic education. Despite living in poverty and raising a large family, through devotion and practice, he experienced direct visions of wisdom deities, resulting in the revelation of sacred texts.
Dudjom Rinpoche II, Jigdral Yeshe Dorje (1904–1987)
The reincarnation of Dudjom Lingpa, he was born in southeastern Tibet, now part of Arunachal Pradesh, India. He is renowned for:
- Spreading the Dudjom Tersar lineage worldwide during the Tibetan diaspora
- Authoring 25 volumes of writings and treasure teachings
- Revising the entire Nyingma Kama canon
Known for his clairvoyance, compassion, and dignity, he spent his final years in Dordogne, France, with his family.
H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche III, Sangye Pema Zhepa (1990–2022
- H.H. Chatral Rinpoche
- H.H. Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche

Following his sudden passing in 2022, Khenpo Ogen made a personal vow to continue his teacher’s mission—spreading the Dudjom lineage, promoting compassionate vegan living, and uniting the global sangha.
H.H. Thinley Norbu Rinpoche (1931–2011)
The eldest son of Dudjom Rinpoche, Thinley Norbu Rinpoche was:
- The incarnation of Tulku Drime Ozer, son of Dudjom Lingpa
- An emanation of Longchenpa, the great Nyingma master
He is one of Khenpo’s root gurus. Khenpo recalls:
“In his presence, I felt like a son who couldn’t walk, being lovingly supported by his father.”
H.H. Kyabje Yeshe Sangpo Rinpoche
Heart Son of Dudjom Rinpoche II, H.H. Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche and Present Dudjom lineage holder in world.
One of Khenpo’s most incomparably kind teachers, from whom he received the refuge vows and under whose guidance he trained as a monk at the Samye Memorial Institute in Kathmandu, Nepal, is H. H. Kyabje Yeshe Sangpo Rinpoche. After many years of dedicated service, H. H. Kyabje Yeshe Sangpo Rinpoche has formally recognized Khenpo and authorized him to teach the Buddhadharma publicly as a Dudjom lineage holder.
